Cadet Training Programme
Eastaway is committed to nurturing and mentoring our Cadets so that we can have a self-sufficient pool of Officers for our vessels in the future.
The strategy of the Cadet Programme is not to recruit large numbers of Cadets, but the right candidates for our organisation. We are committed to creating an effective mentorship journey for all Cadets.
Cadets will be given priority to sail with Eastaway as Officers after the completion of their Cadetship programme.
The planning and execution of the Cadet Programme is done in Singapore.
Cadet Roadmap
Cadets typically go through 3 main stages* in order to obtain their CoC (Certificate of Competency).
COLLEGE / PRE-SEA
Depending on your college and course of studies, this stage may take from 6 months up to 3 years consisting of pre-sea training, assessments, simulations, theoretical knowledge, etc. to prepare you for sailing.
SAILING
Eastaway will provide our Cadets with the required amount of sailing time required by their issuing authority.
EXAMINATIONS BY THE ISSUING AUTHORITY
After obtaining the required amount of time at sea and completing their course of studies, Cadets will be eligible to sit for their final exams with their issuing authority.
Upon successful completion of their final exams, Cadets will be given priority** to continue their career as Officers onboard our vessels.

What can you expect from the programme?
MENTORSHIP
Cadets will be mentored for studies, exams and career path throughout their time in college and on board.
VESSEL VISITS
Cadets will have the opportunity to participate in visits onboard Eastaway owned vessels before they head to sea for the first time.
WORK ASHORE
Cadets will have the opportunity to work ashore in our offices worldwide after an established continuous sea career with us.
Entry Requirements
Cadets or Potential Candidates who are pursuing or planning to pursuing the following in each location:
BANGLADESH
A Certification obtained from the Nautical or Marine Engineering branch with Bangladesh Maritime Academy.
INDIA
A Bachelor of Science in Nautical Studies, or Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering, or Diploma in Nautical Studies with selected universities.
SINGAPORE
A Diploma in Nautical Studies or Diploma in Marine Engineering with the Singapore Maritime Academy, or A Certification of completion for the Cadet Programme offered by Wavelink Maritime Institute.
THE U.K
A Foundation Degree, Bachelor of Science in Nautical Studies, or Bachelor of Engineering in Maritime Engineering, or Higher Nationa Diploma or Scottish Professional Diploma in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering, with Solent University, City of Glasgow College, or National Maritime college of Ireland.
MOROCCO
A Degree in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering Degree with Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Maritimes (Higher Institute of Maritime Studies).
BANGLADESH
A Certification obtained from the Nautical or Marine Engineering branch with Bangladesh Maritime Academy.
INDIA
A Bachelor of Science in Nautical Studies, or Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering, or Diploma in Nautical Studies with selected universities.
