Chief Engineer

GENERAL INFORMATION
Purpose of the Role

To ensure the safe operation and security of the vessel to which he has been assigned and to provide a link between the Company at the most senior level.

 
Reports To

Technical Superintendent

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsible of the overall safety and seaworthiness of the vessel
  • Manage the carriage of dangerous goods
  • Maneuver and handle the vessel in all weather and traffic conditions

Working Experience
  • Unlimited Class 1 Engineering Certificate of Competency.
  • Experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering with at least 2 years of sailing experience in the rank (for 2-stroke and/or 4-stroke engines).
  • Scoring at least 80% in Marlins English test.
  • Confidence in basic computing – Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Advantageous to have experience with DNV ShipManager software.
